UNS S30908 Foils are composed of approximately 24-26% chromium, 13-15% nickel, with small amounts of manganese (2.0%), silicon (1.0%), and carbon (0.08% max). The low carbon content in 309S reduces carbide precipitation during welding, improving its weldability. The alloy’s mechanical properties include a tensile strength of 515-725 MPa, yield strength of 205-250 MPa, and elongation of 40-50%. It offers excellent resistance to high temperatures, making it suitable for environments up to 1100°C.
