Stainless Steel 348 Sheet and Plates is an austenitic chromium-nickel steel with the addition of columbium and tantalum to improve intergranular corrosion resistance. It provides excellent weldability, formability, and high strength. This alloy contains 18-20% chromium, 8-10% nickel and 10-12% columbium. Mechanical properties include tensile strength of 520-700 MPa, yield strength of 205-345 MPa, and elongation of 40% or more. It is resistant to oxidation and scaling at temperatures up to 1600°F (870°C), making it suitable for high-temperature applications such as exhaust systems, heat exchangers and furnace components.
